Floating Cloud House

    Plan for a residential dwelling

    1998

    Rabo de Peixe, Azores

In the Azores, fruit plantations are flanked by tall, slender incenco trees. They grow quickly and provide excellent protection from the north shore winds.

In the Azores, fruit plantations are flanked by tall, slender incenco trees. They grow quickly and provide excellent protection from the north shore winds. Placing the home at the far end of the property took advantage of the fact that the first three natural walls were already in place, composed of these protective trees. So, behind the fourth human-made concrete wall, the house can now be an almost organic truth, an equation of the actuality and materiality of each place and room.
